Then in order to play this single-player game(especially if the DRM is Denuvo) you must be constantly connected to the internet! You don’t really own the game since the provider can cut the internet verification service whenever the provider wants. It is a whooping 155GB download! Even if you have bought a physical PC copy you still have to download many GBs in order to install the game (i.e. It’s very hard to compress it into a paragraph, and the entire sociological baggage of how a “simple video game” affects this many parts and problems in society, but this is the jist of it. And there’s I hope a majority of us who just walk past this entire thing, play the game, and keep believing whatever we believe about trans people without affecting the game. Thus parts of the gaming community boycotts Hogwarts Legacy, some of them aggressively so, like harassing people who play it on Twitch or spoiling the game in comments and chat.
Rowling is (according to many) also a TERF saying that everyone who buys her products agrees with her transphobic views (which is just bonkers). Empress is a TERF, because (according to her NFO for the game) she thinks that everything in life is yin–yang with two and only two opposing forces and so are genders, and she said that trans people make life harder for women and make it harder to advocate for women’s rights, that this “woke” trans thing is men stealing from “real” women. I’m paraphrasing here, I don’t agree with Empress’ views.
